Four in Knoydart
Sheena McKie, 22 July 2014

Saturday saw four of us, Stuart, Stas, Sue and I, drive up to the sleepy hamlet of Arnisdale. Beautiful trip with fantastic scenery.

First objective was Beinn Sgritheall. Off and running its pretty much straight up from the road and I mean straight up !! Unfortunately the weather was very overcast turning to drizzle then turning to pouring rain........bummer ! Managed a few glimpsed views but not a lot really.

Back down it was straight into our wee boat and the short hop over to Barisdale where we stayed in a stables/bothy belonging to the estate.

Next day was dry but still cloudy on the tops and unfortunately that's how it stayed.

The Ladhar Bheinn horseshoe was the prize today. Great stalkers path leads you to Mam Barisdale where it's a bit of a pull onto the beginning of the main ridge. The scrambling was made quite difficult in places due to very wet slippy rock but always interesting.

Ladhar Bheinn does not give itself up easily and is hard work all the way up and down but what a great hill !

Ridge down is stunning.
