Club Sunday - Wee Buachaille
Stuart McKie, 15 January 2012
Nine out on a gloriously sunny day. Destination Buachaille Etive Beag from Glencoe.
After suiting and booting in the new extended car park, in pretty cold conditions, it was off up towards the first Munro of the day.
Following a fairly new laid path, which was like a bit of a staircase, we reached the bealach in fantastic sunshine. Stob Coire Raineach was the first point of call. A straight forward pull to the top saw us snack at the summit with fantastic views all around.
Once back down at the col it was time to strap on the irons and head up the slope towards Stob Dubh. Conditions were positively alpine with the snow crisp and firm. The walk along the ridge was spectacular, fantastic conditions for winter walking!
After reaching the summit, which was very cold, we dropped down a short distance and had lunch opposite Bidean. A grand lunch table with a great view.
Our descent was enjoyed by all, and far too soon we were down at the cars.
A fantastic, classic Scottish winter's day.
Usual debrief at the Ardlui hotel finished off a superb outing.
